An office move is a logistics project with a deadline you cannot move. The furniture is the easy part. Connectivity, access and staff communication decide whether people can work on Monday.
Three to six months out
- Confirm the new lease, access hours and any building move in rules
- Order broadband and phone lines early because lead times are long
- Appoint an internal coordinator and agree the budget
- Survey the new space and produce a numbered floor plan
Six to eight weeks out
- Book your commercial removals crew and confirm the out of hours window
- Arrange crate hire and deliver crates a week before the move
- Plan the IT decommission and reconnection with your provider
- Agree what is being disposed of, recycled or put into storage
The final fortnight
Label every desk, monitor, cable bundle and crate with the destination position number. Give staff a one page instruction sheet explaining what to pack, when to pack it and where to find their crate on the first morning.
Move weekend
Lifts, loading bays and security passes need to be booked in advance in most Reading and Thames Valley office buildings. We work evenings and weekends so your team leaves on Friday and arrives to a working desk on Monday.
FAQs
Questions people ask us about this
01How long does an office move take?
A twenty desk office is typically a single weekend. Larger sites are phased across several evenings so no department loses more than one working day.
02Do you move IT equipment?
Yes. We crate and transport computers, monitors and servers with anti static protection, and we work alongside your IT provider for the disconnect and reconnect.
